Getting started

New here? Start with the basics.

What is Learn Romanian Hub?

A structured course that takes you from complete beginner (A1) to mastery (C2) in Romanian. Every lesson is taught by Madalina, with real recorded audio, spaced-repetition review, an AI conversation tutor, and pronunciation feedback.

I am a complete beginner — where do I start?

Start at A1, lesson one. After a short onboarding that asks why you are learning and how much time you have, your Home screen recommends the next lesson. You never have to plan your own path.

How much time do I need each day?

Fifteen focused minutes a day is enough to make steady progress. The course is built around short, repeatable sessions rather than long study marathons.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free tier lets you try the first lessons and the core experience. Self-Study, Premium, and VIP unlock the full A1–C2 library, AI practice, and pronunciation feedback. See the Pricing page for what each plan includes.

Lessons & the 5-step flow

How a lesson works, from Listen to Review.

What are the five steps in a lesson?

Every lesson follows the same flow: Listen (hear real Romanian), Read (see it written with translations), Practice (interactive exercises), Speak (say it aloud and get feedback), and Review (lock it into memory). The order is deliberate and research-backed.

Can I skip a step in a lesson?

You can jump between steps using the progress bar at the top of the lesson. We recommend doing them in order the first time, but nothing is locked — revisit any step whenever you like.

A lesson will not open or says “not found”.

That usually means the lesson is not published yet or your plan does not include that level. Check the lesson list for your current level. If a lesson you should have access to still will not open, contact support.

How do I type Romanian letters like ă, â, î, ș, ț?

Inside exercises, a Romanian input accessory gives you one-tap access to the special letters. On your own keyboard you can add the Romanian layout, or long-press the base letter on mobile. We always show and accept the correct comma-below ș and ț.

Daily review

Spaced repetition and your review queue.

What is the daily review?

Daily review uses spaced repetition: each word you learn comes back for a quick check just before you would forget it. Over time, well-known words appear less often and tricky ones more often, so review stays short and effective.

Why is my review queue empty?

Either you are fully caught up, or you have not learned any words yet. Complete a lesson to bank new vocabulary, and cards will appear in your review queue when they are next due.

What do the review ratings mean?

After each card you rate how it went — from “Again” (you forgot) to “Easy”. Your rating sets when the card returns: harder cards come back sooner, easier cards much later. Be honest; it makes review more efficient.

Pronunciation

Recording, scoring, and the microphone.

The app says it cannot access my microphone.

Pronunciation practice needs microphone permission. Allow it when your browser asks, or enable it in your browser or device settings for this site, then reload the page. You can still do every other part of a lesson without a microphone.

How is my pronunciation scored?

When you record a phrase, we compare it against native speech and highlight the sounds to work on. The score is guidance, not a grade — use it to notice patterns and try again.

The audio will not play.

Check that your device is not muted and your connection is stable, then press play again. If a clip still fails, it may not have finished syncing — try the lesson again shortly, and contact support if it persists.

AI conversation tutor

Practising real conversations with Madalina.

What is the AI conversation tutor?

It is a chat where you practise real Romanian conversations with Madalina — ordering coffee, meeting the family, handling the pharmacy. Pick a scenario suited to your level and talk it through at your own pace.

Is there a limit on tutor conversations?

Each plan includes a monthly conversation allowance, shown as a small indicator on the tutor screen. When you reach the limit it resets at the start of your next cycle, or you can upgrade for more.

Where are my past conversations?

Finished and in-progress conversations appear under “Recent conversations” on the tutor screen. If the list is empty, start your first scenario and it will show up there afterwards.

Account & profile

Sign-in, your level, and your learning profile.

How do I change my email or password?

Open Settings from your profile. You can update your password there, and use “Reset password” from the login screen if you are ever locked out. To change your account email, contact support.

The course feels too easy or too hard — can I change my level?

Yes. Your level guides recommendations but never locks you out. You can move to a different level from the lesson library at any time; nothing you have already learned is lost.

What does my learning profile do?

During onboarding you tell us why you are learning — heritage, a partner or family, or life in Romania. We use that to reorder examples and recommendations so they feel relevant. It never gates content, and you can switch examples to another audience anytime.

Will my progress sync across devices?

Yes. Lesson completions, review-card states, and conversation history live in the cloud and sync automatically whenever you sign in on another device.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile, then Settings and account, and use “Delete account”. After you confirm, we immediately and permanently erase your profile, progress, vocabulary, and conversation history, cancel any active subscription, and email you a confirmation. This cannot be undone.

Billing, plans & cancellation

Subscriptions, receipts, pausing and cancelling.

How do I upgrade, downgrade, or change my plan?

Go to You → Subscription. You can change plan there; the price adjusts on your next bill, with any difference handled automatically. Your current plan, renewal date, and card are all shown on that screen.

Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?

Yes. From You → Subscription you can pause billing for one month. Your access pauses too, and everything resumes automatically afterwards — useful if you need a short break without losing your place.

How do I cancel?

Go to You → Subscription → Cancel. Cancelling takes the same few taps as signing up, is available online any time, and needs no phone call or email. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you can revive your plan in one tap.

Where do I find my invoices and receipts?

Your billing history lives under You → Subscription, with a downloadable PDF receipt for every charge. Receipts include the VAT details required in the EU.

My payment failed — what now?

Update your card under You → Subscription and we will retry automatically; your access continues during the retry window. If the problem is on the bank’s side, a different card usually resolves it. Contact support if you are stuck.

Do you offer refunds?

If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of a new subscription, contact support for a full refund — no questions asked. After that, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

Is my payment information secure?

Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified provider. We never see or store your card details.

Offline & technical

Installing the app, offline use, and audio issues.

Can I install this as an app on my phone?

Yes. Learn Romanian Hub is a progressive web app — use your browser’s “Add to Home Screen” option to install it. It then opens full-screen like a native app, with an icon on your home screen.

Does it work offline?

Lessons you have already opened are cached and remain available offline, and your review answers are queued and synced when you reconnect. New content and the AI tutor need a connection. You will see a small “offline” chip when you lose your connection.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on phones, tablets, and computers are all supported. For pronunciation practice you will need a browser that can access your microphone.
